Where are you Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa and Po?

Saturday, March 28, 2015

Getting ready for our weekend baking cookies for the missionaries that help us with the capilla abiertas.  I also do extra when we visit the houses to deliver their emergency food and detectors. Because cooling racks do no exist here, Mike created one for me!  This is my clothes rack for drying our laundry. He took some screening material we had and just draped it over the top.  Perfect!
This is my cooling rack. It is really the rack that fits in the bottom
of a chicken roaster pan I bought. It holds 12 cookies.
This is what Mike invented for me!

With two ovens going because I can only fit one tray in each oven,
I get alot of cookies done in half the time!
This room is our drying room where we hang our clothes to dry.
Capilla Abierta in Paso de los Toros (a long drive)

This ward had great participation from the members and the Stake President. The night was memorable for all who participated and one reference from a non member was very favorable.

Close to Easter and promoting the Easter video.

Prayer meeting before we start.

Always teaching.

She has "the pose" down. She is a pistol!

The primary.

The iPad.

Motos and skirts.

Can the grandkids guess what game grandpa is playing?

As always, a great event.

On our way home this was a funny thought that came to my mind:
"I think I should be seeing Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa and Po coming right over
those green hills amidst the blue skies and white clouds of Uruguay. Teletubbies where are you?"

Hermana Sanders needed some medical attention, so her and Hermana
Eddington were our guests.  I love guests!

We received a Christmas card today March 31. The card was mailed
December 19.  But it is always nice to get stuff from home no matter
when it decides to arrive!

Valientes for March and May, all of our favorites!

March and May 2015  Change Week

Because I am so far behind in my blog I am combining two change weeks, the one in March and the one in May.
YouTube: Valientes March 2015

All of our favorite missionaries are returning home.

Elder Muñoz was our trainer in the finances of the mission.

Elder Muñoz collected pens. He did not have one from Antel (phone company),
so I gave him mine.

Hermana Zelaya visited us often because she lived in our same complex.

Elder Pin was AP and just got his driver's license 2 days before.

Hermana Alvarado and Bullock

Hermana Díaz

Hermana Hawley, my back-up nurse.

Elder Eraso spent recup time in our apartment after minor surgery.

Our favorite missionaries are returning home.  Wait didn't I just say that at the last change week???  It is true, none the less!

Hermana Lanuza

Hermana Martinez would call me at least once a month!

Men in Black (minus the sunglasses)

Elder Lacey and Lambert

Far left: Elder Morris did a great job in re-opening Vergara.

Elder Cross
On our way to the airport.

Elder Walkenhorst, Miles, Massey, Alder, Hobbs

L to R: Hermana Armijo, Bustos, Louder, Altamirano
All these Hermanas worked the Capilla Abiertas.

Elder Torres (not going home) and Elder Alder.
Elder Alder was one of the elders in charge of the massive
burrito bar that was a huge success.

Capilla Abierta for Colon and Ferrocarril
Two wards that meet in the same building did their capilla abierta together. The hours were changed to accommodate the ferria. A newly wed couple took a chalkboard to the feria inviting people to come and know more about the mormons. As a result, they did have at least one family that came and were very interested. The wards did great being friends to people as they came into their chapel.

This is a very unique chapel. The front structure is from
an old catholic church that was on this property.
Our church was able to build a chapel only on the
condition that this front entrance
to the old catholic church not be part of the demolition.

The children are interested in reading the posters.

I generally stay in the chapel to make sure a reverent atmosphere is
maintained.

These two great newlyweds and returned missionaries took the initiative
to wheel the chalkboard down the street to the open market (feria).

Getting ready for our capacitacion in the 18 de Mayo Ward. This is a new
building. An arson had set fire to the previous chapel.

Mike teaching.

My introduction.

This is our favortie bumper sticker:
"Su bocina no convierte a mi auto en helicoptero"
Can you guess the translation?

This is a tree branch holding up the electrical lines down the street
from the chapel.

These trees are in full bloom now. They are indigenous to Uruguay.

Sometimes we have to give rides to the missionaries after the capilla abiertas.
That board on the ceiling is the image of Christ velcroed into place.
The rest of the week:
Our love notes from the Hermanas.

Cooking on our deck for the Elders.

The Elders came over for a FHE. Some of them will be transferring.

Elder Burnett always has their full attention as he teaches the
gospel of Christ he loves so much.
L to R: Elder Torres, Alder, Oliver, Moss, Delgado

Elder Torres, Bauer

Although I do think that if one were to tie up his hands, he would not
be able to teach!  What do you think?
