Hermana Schaelling, we love you!

Tuesday October 7 2014

This week is the all intense "Cambios". New oros arrived today.  We do alot of cooking this week!

Wednesday October 8 2014

Today is the hardest for alot of missionaries.  They say goodbye to companions and hello to the new companions.  Some of them are saying goodbye to everyone, because they are going home tomorrow. It is hard for me because I generally have to say good bye to an office elder or a sister that lives in our apartment building.  It is the same emotions you go through when you say goodbye to a calling.  Yet, another new calling awaits and it is all good!

Hermana Schaelling and Hermana Ots
as they say Adios to Montevideo

They are not twins.
They just happend to wear the same clothes!

The world is a better place because of these
wonderful women of the church

Well done Elder Taylor, thou good and
faithful servant.
He was just released as the head office financer.
He is now going to be able to proselyte.

Can you guess how many pieces of luggage we ae hauling?

Sister Cook wanted me to come up with a shorter version of the cookbook that I am working on
for Christmas to give to our valientes.  So I started working on it around 5 pm and had it close to
1/4 of the way for printing when the printer jammed and the office elders had already gone home because it was after 10 pm.  I felt bad that I couldn't help Mary cook for the valiente dinner.  The next morning we were going to take the rest to a printer, but the wonderful office elders knowing the quirks of the printer, fixed it and so we were able to finish and deliver all the cookbooks before the valientes went home.

More cooking.  Sister Cook and I served breakfast for the valientes.  Most of the valientes are headed home to the United States, so their flight didn't leave until 9 pm tonight.  Because of that, we fixed tacos for dinner for them.  Inglesa happened to have the premade taco shells so it made for a pretty easy meal.
It was really raining hard today. In between feeding valientes and the airport run we did some apartment maintenance and some puddle wading.

At the airport there was alot of thunder and lightning and torrential downpours.  It worried some hermanas that maybe the flight would be canceled.  I told them that planes come and go all the time in the snow. I reassured them that they would be going home.
It was of course very hard to say goodbye to Hermana Schaelling.  She has become our "granddaughter" and we will miss her.  Fortunately though she lives close to us and I am sure we will meet again!

Most of this next video focuses on Hermana Schaelling.  We love her!

I want my grandchildren to go on missions!
They would be awesome missionaries.

Did you guess 60 pieces of luggage?

Come Listen To a Prophet's Voice

Saturday and Sunday October 4th and 5th 2014

Conference weekend!  I needn't say more. We thoroughly enjoyed all sessions!  I probably more so than Mike because they were in English.
One of my favorite talks:
Are We Not All Beggars?  Jeffrey R Holland

Our time changed this weekend too. So on Saturday conference started at 1 pm and on Sunday it started at 2 pm.

The temple group did their monthly break the fast meal today, even though we didn't fast because of conference.  These were our birthdays for October.

He is determined isn't he?
Playing, name the apostles game.

Monday October 6 2014
We have been taking the Giles to different places they would like to see before they head home in a week.  This is at the US Embassy. We are basking in the nice warm sunshine.

Monday was Miguel Silva's birthday.  We went over and celebrated his birthday with him and his sister Aida. It was in the evening and getting late but they still wanted us to come. We brought a present, our lovely singing voices and some homemade cinnamon rolls that I had made earlier today.  We were thankful that we made the extra effort because it really lightened his day.  He was feeling pretty bad that none of his children had called to wish him a happy birthday.

Qué los cumplas feliz
que los cumplas feliz
que los cumplas Miguel
que los cumplas feliz.
We put a candle on top of homemade cinnamon rolls.

When it comes to buying things here, there is always
something that refers to the English language
like this shopping bag.
