Santa Claus Has Arrived Early!

Saturday, November 29, 2014

Minas 2 Ward.  If we could give an Award of Excellence it would be given to this ward!  They did everything right and the results showed. They brought into their chapel 25 friends and family. These were not people that the missionaries tracted on the street.  They physically brought them and fellowshipped with them all through the evening. We did tours about every 15 minutes.  The spirit was felt among everyone and the missionaries were very excited about the success of this ward and their Capilla Abierta.

Before the Capilla Abierta, we went to Pan de Azucar to deliver fans and packages from home. We also had to look at a leak in their water heater hose.  We also needed to give the sisters a ride to the Capilla Abierta. So, because "tis the season",  I dressed Mike appropriately!

The hermanas LOVE Elder Burnett and he loves
to have fun for them. They are all taking pics.

In order to keep the hermanas at the Capilla Abierta the entire evening, we needed to drive them back to Piriapolis.  But, you can't leave Minas without ever eating at our great pizza place.
Muy rico!

We arrived back in Montevideo around midnight, after we unloaded all our Capilla Abierta things.
Tomorrow is election day again, so we have no Capacitacion scheduled.  We will go to Aereoparque Ward.

Thanskgiving Day

Thursday, November 27, 2014

Happy Thanksgiving!  Naturally this is not a holiday for Uruguay, but Hermana Cook graciously offered to do a traditional thanksgiving dinner for the couples and the office elders, assistants, and the hermana assistants.  I think we had a total of 20 people.  I bought a turkey about 3 months ago..She was 10 lbs and cost me $50.  You can bet I will make soup stock from the carcass to get all my money's worth!

I brined my turkey this year. It was very moist and yummy!

We sang Christmas Hymns after our meal. I accompanied them on the piano.
We were all grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ and our families.

Painting, painting, painting

Tuesday and Wednesday, November 25 & 26, 2014

We had a house In Chuy, that the Elders had moved out of and it needed to be painted before we could hand back the keys to the owner.
It is about a 5 hour drive just to get to Chuy, so our day was very long.
My hand was so tired of holding the paint roller by the end of the day, I had to quit.
The next day I used the extension and that worked much better for me.

I almost forgot to take before and after pics.
The blue is the before and the yellow is the first coat.
