Literally at the Feet of Apostle Dallin H Oaks

Monday, April 20, 2015

Of course before the big event, we had to pack lunches for our mission.

One bag for each companionship.
Sandwich will go in tomorrow.
All packed and ready for tomorrow.

It was amazing to see hundreds of missionaries coming to Stake Center to see and hear an apostle of Jesus Christ. My thought. An apostle here in Uruguay and the busy world around us does not know and some would not believe or care.
Mike and I came fasting and with a prayer in our heart.
We came early and listened to the choir practice.

I am literally sitting at Elder Oaks feet this day. Front row in the Stake Center.
What a privilege that has been offered me and through the sacrifice of so many valiante people and family before me.
How can I ever repay the debt?

The meeting started with Elder Oaks and his cute wife along with the mission president's and their wives and some of the area presidency standing in the front of the chapel and shaking all 450 hands of the missionaries from both missions.  One hermana was so touched by the opportunity. Her tears could not be stopped.  Elder Oaks didn't have time to talk to each one of us of course, but to me he took a moment and asked, "Sister Burnett, where are you from?"  I replied, "Sandy, Utah."  He then said, "Thank you for your service."
I never thought I would ever have the opportunity to shake the hand let alone talk personally with an apostle!  How blessed indeed.

My impression when he first walked in was one of great love and I felt he was more like a loving grandfather.  He has such kind eyes.  His wife is full of energy as well.

Elder Oaks is standing at the far end shaking hands.
