Mike's Favorite Store Finally Makes it to Uruguay!

We had so much fun checking out the"first of it's kind" here in Uruguay.
The name of the store is Sodimac and it is Mike's dream store!

Interesting shower display.

Now you may laugh but there has never been a store like this.  Mike would spend hours looking at different little stores to try and find all the parts he needed.  This has been a huge timesaver for him.
After all, he was missing "Home Depot" alot!  I even found a sturdy apple slicer.  I used it the other day for a conference and one Uruguyan had never seen an apple slicer and was so amazed.  He wanted to buy one for his wife.  I told him to go to Sodimac!

Another project Elder Anderson and Mike worked on was creating new desks.  When they closed down their huge office for job employment, there were all these big desks.  Mike figured he could take them apart and make smaller desks for the missionaries.  Some of the desks they have are pretty sad.  I think he ended up with 12 desks and only 1 extra piece.  He is the master of Tetris, as the Elders state.

We had an area conference today via satellite broadcast.  It was held in the Malvin chapel.
Here is an interesting thought I had while watching the area conference.

Elder Burnett served with Richard J Maynes under President Gardner.  Elder Maynes is a member of the Presidency of the Seventy. He spoke in conference today. They were never companions but served here in Uruguay at the same time.  As we were watching conference in the Malvin chapel, I marveled at the idea that one Elder that had served in Uruguay so many
years ago was watching another Elder that had served here at the same time and yet thousands of miles apart.  It just touched me. Elder Maynes had no idea that Elder Burnett was watching him from
from the Malvin chapel in Uruguay.  I even captured the moment with a photo.
