Today was the Oro Conference and our head cook, Mary brought a surprise for Elder Burnett.
She had a photo of him when he was here the first time. These photos just keep popping up out of obscurity.
These two pictures prove just how small the church really is. We have known Mary, the cook for the mission ever since we arrived. She is a wonderful friend. We had never met her husband however until a few weeks ago when we drove her home and her husband happened to be outside. They were introduced. Later that evening, the husband mentioned to Mary that he knew an Elder Burnett who served in Fray Bentos. He then found these pictures in his collection. This is his mother with Elder Burnett! Her name is Gloria Alvarez. Mary was so excited to share this with us. Her mother-in-law with Elder Burnett when he had hair! Everyone had great fun with this picture. We have a connection with Mary that we never dreamed of having. So wonderful.
