Last night on our almost 2 hour drive back to Melo with a van full of sisters, the gospel questions and discussions were just flying! We arrived in Melo around 10:30pm. After delivering all the sisters to their apartments, we tiredly went back to our only hotel in Melo, Hotel Juana.
We had to get up early so that we could attend church in Rio Branco and then head over the boarder into Brazil to renew our passport. We only have 6 months to drive with our US driver's license. If you do not have your visa or cedula yet (and we don't), to drive legally you have to go out of the country and then come back in and they stamp your passport with a new stamp.
I had an interesting talk with a sister of Rio Branco ward who spoke great English. She told me that the United States was a great country because they believed in God. She reminded me that even our money states, In God We Trust. This was an eye opener for me. People around the world do recognize our country's belief in God. It would be nice if more people in the United States would go back to our belief in God. We have a special country and a duty to the rest of the world to do ALL that we can to keep God in our country.
I had the opportunity to play this beautiful piano for Sacrament Meeting today. How did such a piano end up in such a small ward? |
Into Brazil we go. |
The horizon is Uruguay. We are in Brazil. |
This pic is for my Dad!. Uruguay has no Shell stations. |
After we did our little in and out thing, we headed back to Montevideo
Good bye to Melo and our nice hotel!
Sunsets on our way home.
We are driving 65 mph so I just stick my camera out the window and click away.
Works pretty well I think.
After our busy 3 day weekend, we arrive to our apartment only to find lots of love!
This is our front door.
Interesting that we only get love notes from sisters. :) |
Thank you family for allowing us to serve with
such wonderful young people.
