We did a capacitacion in Libia Ward this fast day. I always like to go on Fast Sundays because I know we will not be asked to talk in Sacrament meeting. Not that I mind if they do ask, but at least the pressure of speaking off. I did play Christmas songs for them in Sacrament meeting. The sustain pedal didn't work which was very different.
Tonight we had a very special evening. Sister Vilma Gea gave Mike a great surprise. We picked her up so we could visit with her and her sister Beatriz. But first she took Mike to the Capilla de Deseret.

Memorabilia from times past. |
Where it all began for Vilma as a young teenager. |
Cornerstone of the Deseret Chapel |
This is where Mike worked 40+ years ago and it was the first Stake building in Uruguay. This is also where he baptized Vilma and Beatriz. Memories came flooding in. After we visited the chapel for a short time we drove to Beatriz' lovely home. All of her children, husband and grandchildren were there! It was so fun and reminded me of all our children and grandchildren at home. So special!
Right - Twins! |
This little girl had at least 4 cookies. |
Newest one of the bunch. Not too happy with Auntie. |
Beatriz Gea |
I brought a full jar of peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chip cookies and the little ones and the BIG ones enjoyed them until they were all gone!
Alma 17: 1, 2, 3
… behold, to his (Mike's) astonishment, he met with
the sons of Mosiah (Vilma and Beatriz) journeying towards the land of Zarahemla (Montevideo).
2 Now these sons of Mosiah (daughters) were
with Alma (Mike) at the time the angel first appeared unto him (at the time they were first baptized); therefore Alma (Mike) did
rejoice exceedingly to see his brethren (sisters); and what added more to his joy, they
were still his brethren (sisters) in the Lord; yea, and they had waxed strong in the
knowledge of the truth; for they were men (women) of a sound understanding and they had searched the
scriptures diligently, that they might know the word of God.
3 But this is not all; they had
given themselves to much prayer, and fasting; therefore they had the
spirit of prophecy, and the spirit of revelation, and when they taught, they
taught with power and authority of God.

This evening we picked up the Harris' from the airport. They have been gone for 3 weeks attending their grandson's funeral. It is good to have them back. They were happy to be back too. We didn't have much time to visit. They looked very tired. We are anxious to introduce them to the Anderson's.

The Anderson's boss invited them to his new apartment in Punta del Este. They needed a ride, so we volunteered of course! Punta del Este is "the" resort beach community! Very beautiful.
Cruise ships port here. |
This island has thousands of sea lions that live there. I couldn't zoom in close enough to see any. |
The video was taken from the 10th floor of the boss's new apartment.
Hermana Anderson relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. She works in an office downtown Montevideo. |
Lots of money and fancy yachts here. |
Nice outdoor patio restaurant. Harbor is in the background. |
Talk about popcorn popping! Gorgeous flowers! |
Mano de Punta del Este (Hand of Punta del Este) is a
sculpture by Chilean artist Mario Irarrázabal. It depicts five
human fingers partially emerging from sand and is located on Parada 1 at
Brava Beach in Punta del Este, a popular resort town in Uruguay. It is
also known as either Hombre Emergiendo a la Vida (Man Emerging into
Life), Monumento los Dedos(Monument of the Fingers), or Monumento al
Ahogado (Monument to the Drowned) although the artist does not like this
name. In English, its popular name is The Hand.
It is a famous sculpture that has become a symbol for
Punta del Este since its completion in February 1982 and in turn has become one
of Uruguay's most recognizable landmarks.
It was so sad to see that the other side of these
"famous" fingers were all graffitied.
Dear Sister Burnett : we really enjoyed the night ! Thanks for the pictures and the scripture. We love you Vilma Gea
