Christmas Lights on a Missionary Budget

Saturday, December 20, 2014
No Capilla Abierta today.  Too close to Christmas.

Do these calendars look odd?
It is so weird to have the seasons backwards.

This sea lion washed up on shore this afternoon.

We had a wonderful FHE with the temple group. We all shared our testimonies of Christ. I was very thankful that I could understand most of their sincere feelings about Jesus, His gospel, the temple blessings and their love.  I shared my testimony in Spanish as well, short and simple though it was.
We then ate the goodies that everyone had brought to share. I brought an artichoke spinach dip with crackers and they all loved it.  They had never had that before and they wanted the recipe.  I also brought some caramel chocolate pecan shortbread bars.  I watched and for a while no one took any. They are funny that way. But once one person ventures forth into the world of strange foods by Hermana Burnett, they all do and the cookie bars were gone and more requests for the recipe.  It reminds me of the commercial for Life cereal featuring "Mikie, he likes it!"

The FHE was held in the home of the
President of the temple, the Ventura's.
Their home was beautifully decorated.

Sometimes getting to your destination gets a little difficult.

But, the moving must continue!

A few decorations are starting to show up. This is across
the street from our apartment. They are they only ones with lights.

If you looked outside, you would hardly know that the Christmas season is here.
Not many people put lights on the outside of their homes or apartments.
I decided to join our neighbor from across the street.
Our Christmas lights on a missionary budget.
